Dr. Cassie Summers is the top archaeologist in her field, in part due to her rare gift-the ability to garner visions from the past from the artifacts she holds in her hands. She drops everything when she receives an urgent call from her former professor and old friend, Dr. Thomas Armstrong, requesting her help on an unusual case. Arriving in the small town of North Elmham in the UK, Cassie is stunned to realize the pair may be sitting on the find of the century -the burial sight of thirteen witches, clutching rune stones and ritualistically laid out in a peculiar formation, something the world has never seen the likes of before. On the verge of finding answers, their progress is stopped dead in its tracks by the addition of several Biblical plagues and the murder of two security guards on site. With the sudden involvement of the UK's Special Branch Division's agent Richard Parker, their adventure takes an unexpected turn when Cassie learns there is more to this find than meets the eye and it extends well beyond lending a hand to an old friend. As an ancient darkness descends upon the world, Cassie and her friends must make a trip back in time to search for the world's most powerful good witch for help. Their adventure, however, also reveals no one is who they claim to be - and the key to saving the world is a renewed faith in magic, something the world has long since left behind.
