The love story of Aibak Khan and Chandramukhi, also known as 'Mahrukh', begins in pre-independence India during the British Raj and Maharajas era. It spans over twenty-five years and eventually leads to the union of Aibak Khan's daughter, Gul-e-Lala, and the son of his master, Humayun Zafar.
