An email from the C.E.O arrived in everyone's inbox. It stated very boldly, 'important announcement.' Every employee opened it immediately as they were all eager to hear the result of the pay talks.
The message read:
'I am sure you will join me in congratulating Tom Smith on his promotion to Finance Director. We all know in these difficult times, how important it is to have the right people at the top table. '
Across the organisation, a unified response was heard...'how did that arsehole get promoted?!'
