Col Wacholtz was born and raised in Colorado, educated at Denver Lutheran High School, Colorado State University, and the University of North Dakota. He joined the Air Force in 1976 and served in several career fields before retiring as a full colonel in 2001. He resides with his wife Sherry in Thornfield, Missouri where he also serves as a Pastor in his local church.
