Om Egun
A translation of 72 songs sung to the spirits of deceased ancestors in the tradition of the Afro-Cuban Santeria religion.
Translated by Afro-Cuban scholar Lázaro Pedroso (Ogun Tola) from the original Lukumi language that was brought to Cuba by West African slaves, these songs are relevant both to students of the history of African religions that were brought to the Caribbean hundreds of years ago, as well as to students of the African religions and traditions that have spread through musical and spiritual practices from the Caribbean and and that are practiced throughout the world today.
English translation by Christiane Hayashi.
A companion CD is available on www.cdbaby.com featuring Lázaro Pedroso, Jesús Diáz, Miguelito Bernal, Michael Spiro, Eric Barberia and Lichi Fuentes.
