Om Feelings and Faith
There is a great deal of confusion among Christians and church leaders about the role of emotions in the life of the believer and many believe that emotions are a hindrance to our faith. In this book, Dr. Gardner establishes a biblical foundation for understanding emotions as a gift from the Lord and explains how the Lord is able to help us overcome negative emotions of all kinds through prayer. Using Jesus as an example to help us understand emotions, he proposes that there are two types of negative emotions: Jesus emotions, and belief-based emotions. Jesus emotions are based upon real-life experiences and can be released through two simple steps, whereas belief-based emotions are based upon our false beliefs and can be released through three steps. This book was written to teach believers how to control and release their own negative emotions through prayer, and then be able to help others overcome their negative emotions. When Christians learn how to control and release their own negative emotions, they will experience God's peace and will be able to make their faith relevant to others who struggle with feelings of grief, anger, shame, fear, and depression.
