Om I am pleasantly and comfortably me: Understanding and celebrating neurodiversity
This book is a celebration of the incredible and unique qualities that autistic children have. It highlights their strengths and challenges the negative stereotypes that too often surround autism. Through personal experience, scientific research, and expert opinions, I explore the ways in which autistic children see the world differently, and how this perspective can lead to remarkable creativity and originality. From their intense focus and attention to detail, to their remarkable memory and abilities, autistic children have so much to offer the world. In future books I will address the difficulties that autistic children may face, from sensory overload to communication differences. I emphasize the importance of understanding and valuing these differences, rather than trying to 'cure' or 'normalize' them. My goal is to shift the conversation around autism from one of "deficiencies" to one of celebration. I hope to inspire parents, educators, and society at large to see the immense value and potential in all autistic children, and to create a world that is more accepting and accommodating of neurodiversity.
