Hip replacement surgery is a radical and traumatic procedure that has enormous disadvantages to the patient in terms of postoperative mobility and morbidity. Hip resurfacing is a more conservative approach resulting in less of the patient's hip and femur being lost, which has great advantages to a younger patient group.
