One Man 500 Miles One Camino

Om One Man 500 Miles One Camino

This book is about a journey of the soul, pilgrim meals, blisters, injury, and other, often very odd, occurrences on the Camino de Santiago across Northern Spain, which I hope you find informative, funny, and motivational. At a push, you could use the book to prop up a wobbly table! So, why do it? Well, it had become mentally and spiritually important for me, so I decided to do it because at the start I was 54 and I wanted to see if I could still do something out of the ordinary, to have an adventure, do something unusual that would test my mental and physical robustness. Could I go on day after day for five weeks? It isn't crossing the Gobi Desert on a pogo stick or sailing the Pacific in a yogurt pot, or indeed going up Everest, but it would still be an adventure, and perhaps that's what I craved deep inside. So, tell us Andrew, what can we expect to read about in your book? Here's a sneaky peak. Disclosing that I was once mistaken for Clint Eastwood. It really happened. Honestly! Just look at my picture and the magic happens. Would I lie to you? Bunk allocation on the basis of grey hair, apocalyptic chickens, feral children, hip Augustinian sisters, an undiscovered Shakespearian work, the migration habits of the 100km pilgrim, pilgrim cheating, and the discovery of a new astronomical measure. You can also read about how I was humbled by the messages and commemorative items left by people all along the way, and the single-minded and often painful determination of many others when they were clearly struggling. Reflecting upon all this I am thankful for my continued mental and physical robustness.
