The Namesake of Israel

Jacob was a man known for his blatant lies and deceit. Although subject to failing God on many occasions, this sinful man turned his life around, acknowledged the Lord as his God, and was blessed with the new name, "Israel." Jacob, the supplanter, went on to become the namesake of God's chosen people. If deceitful Jacob can become great in God's eyes, so can we.
