The right to privacy in Internet social networks

Om The right to privacy in Internet social networks

The research studies the fundamental right to privacy in Internet Social Networks, and is linked to the Human Rights, International Relations and Equity research line of the Unijuí Master's in Human Rights. It represents these premises in the investigation through the virtual context (internet) of which Internet Social Networks are a part. This is a de-territorialised space in which the events witnessed reach a planetary scale. So although the research focuses on the Brazilian reality, it is not exempt from bringing in this contextualisation throughout the discussions, especially when presenting the reality of the internet and its evolution. With regard to human rights, the debate is centred on the right to privacy. The research is based on the assumption that in the digital society, the virtual environment, rapid communication, the ease of exchanging information and the connected individual are a reality, which results in changes in social habits and behaviour, revealing a worrying aspect: the violation of privacy, a fundamental right that deserves essential protection, whether through a theoretical approach or a legislative approach.
