Wiltshire is particularly lucky in the variety and quality of its chapels, which range from tiny country meeting houses of traditional gable-ended design to large town churches with Classical facades and space for 1000 or more worshippers in their galleried interiors. These are followed by a gazetteer describing each of the almost 500 chapels still standing, with details of their appearance and history.
